LNG gets costlier as Pakistan increases prices by up to 16.17pc

Revised per MMBtu prices take effect under latest notification

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices by up to 16.17 percent, according to a new government notification issued on Saturday, raising the cost of gas supplied through both the Sui Southern and Sui Northern distribution networks.

Under the latest notification, the price of LNG supplied through the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system has been increased by $2.59 per MMBtu. Following the revision, the notified price now stands at $18.64 per MMBtu.

The increase represents one of the latest adjustments to notified LNG prices and will apply to consumers connected to the SSGC network.

A similar revision has also been announced for the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) system.

According to the notification, the LNG price for the SNGPL network has been raised by $2.54 per MMBtu, taking the new notified rate to $19.52 per MMBtu.

Overall, LNG prices have risen by as much as 16.17 per cent, with both gas utilities recording increases of more than $2.5 per MMBtu under the revised pricing mechanism.

The latest notification formalises the new LNG rates for both SSGC and SNGPL systems, setting the revised prices at $18.64 per MMBtu and $19.52 per MMBtu, respectively.
