Summary Pakistan's textile exports declined 22.63% in June 2026 from May levels, although total exports for FY2025-26 recorded a modest year-on-year increase.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan's textile exports fell sharply in June 2026, declining 22.63 per cent compared with the previous month, according to official data.
Sources said textile exports stood at $1.282 billion in June, down from $1.657 billion recorded in May 2026, reflecting weaker monthly export performance.
On a year-on-year basis, exports also declined from $1.522 billion in June 2025 to $1.282 billion in June this year.
Despite the monthly slowdown, Pakistan's textile sector posted a marginal increase in exports over the full fiscal year.
According to the figures, textile exports for FY2025-26 totalled $17.97 billion, compared with $17.91 billion in FY2024-25, representing an annual increase of 0.34 per cent.
The textile industry remains Pakistan's largest export sector and a major source of foreign exchange earnings. Industry stakeholders have repeatedly stressed the importance of stable energy supplies, competitive production costs and favourable global demand to sustain export growth.
Analysts said monthly export figures can fluctuate because of shipment schedules, international demand and changing commodity prices. They noted that while the June decline may weigh on short-term performance, the sector still managed to record modest annual growth during the fiscal year.
The latest figures come as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its export base and improve external sector stability by increasing value-added exports and expanding access to international markets.
