14 prisoners escape from Kahuta van

Fourteen prisoners flee from transport van near Kahuta; police recapture four while search operation continues for remaining escapees.

KAHUTA (Dunya News) — Fourteen prisoners escaped from a prison van near Chakiyan Post in Kahuta while being transported to Rawalpindi, prompting a search operation by police.

According to authorities, Kahuta Police launched an immediate operation after the incident and managed to recapture four escaped prisoners, while efforts to locate the remaining fugitives are ongoing.

Officials said the prison van was stopped for checking when one of the prisoners threw chilli powder into the eyes of police personnel, allowing the inmates to escape.

Police cordoned off the area and established checkpoints at different locations. Senior police officers also reached the scene and are supervising the search operation.

Security has been further tightened in Chakiyan and surrounding areas following the incident, while teams continue efforts to arrest the remaining escaped prisoners.
