(Web Desk) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has rejected claims that Italy participated in military operations against Iran, saying her country did not take part in the recent US-Iran conflict.
Speaking at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Meloni dismissed a claim reportedly made by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding Italy's role in the military operation.
She stated that Italy had never participated in the US-Iran conflict, adding that any assistance provided to the United States was limited to technical and logistical support.
Meloni's remarks came after reports that Rutte had claimed around 500 US military aircraft departed from Italy during Operation Epic Fury.
The Italian prime minister's statement sought to clarify her government's position, emphasizing that Italy did not engage in combat operations against Iran despite providing logistical support to its ally.
