UK appreciates Pakistan's role in regional peace

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive engagement between the parties

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar spoke with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Saturday.

During the conversation, the UK foreign secretary reiterated the UK's appreciation for Pakistan's sustained efforts for peace and stability in the region, leading to the signing of the Islamabad MoU by the USA and Iran, mediated by Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive engagement between the parties.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region during the discussion with his Iranian counterpart.

A spokesperson said Abbas Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continued support in advancing the peace process and thanked Islamabad for facilitating the safe return of Iranian personnel and fishermen to their homeland.

Both leaders also agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination on matters of mutual interest.
