ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall across upper and various plain regions of the country from June 16 to 20, 2026.
According to the Met Office, a western weather system is expected to enter the upper parts of the country from June 17, leading to changing weather conditions across multiple regions.
Rain accompanied by windstorms and thunder is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Chakwal. Similar weather conditions are likely in Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Narowal, and Sialkot.
Other districts including Mandi Bahauddin, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, and Sargodha are also expected to experience rain and thunderstorms.
In southern Punjab, rain and strong winds are likely in Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar, while Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Sahiwal may also receive scattered rainfall.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, stormy conditions and rain are expected in Diamer, Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghizer, Ghanche, and Shigar.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall with thunder is forecast for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, along with other central and southern districts.
Balochistan’s Zhob, Quetta, Khuzdar, Lasbela, and surrounding areas are also likely to experience strong winds and rain, while Sindh districts including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Ghotki may see thunderstorms. Karachi and Hyderabad are expected to experience dust-laden winds.
The Met Office has warned of possible flash floods and landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan due to heavy rainfall, which may disrupt traffic flow.
Farmers have been advised to adjust agricultural activities according to weather conditions, while tourists and travelers are urged to exercise caution in northern areas. Relevant authorities have been directed to remain alert for any emergency situation.
Meanwhile, most plain areas of the country are expected to remain under intense heatwave conditions until June 18.
