IPP candidate withdraws in favour of PML-N in Hunza election race

Updated on:

IPP candidate Iman Shah withdrew from Hunza's election race in favour of PML-N, reshaping Constituency-6's political contest.

HUNZA (Dunya News) – The political landscape in Hunza shifted significantly after Stability Pakistan Party (IPP) candidate Iman Shah announced his withdrawal from the electoral contest in favour of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Iman Shah, who was considered one of the strongest contenders in Constituency-6, formally declared his decision to step down from the race.

Explaining the move, he said the creation of an additional seat for Hunza had been a longstanding public demand spanning 25 years. He added that the Prime Minister of Pakistan had issued a notification regarding the additional constituency for Hunza.

Shah stated that the notification for the additional seat would soon be presented to the media and emphasized that the decision had been made after consultations with the party leadership and senior stakeholders.

Political observers believe that if the notification for the additional seat is formally implemented, the PML-N could gain a stronger position in the constituency.

His withdrawal has created a new political dynamic in Constituency-6, potentially making the electoral contest easier for the PML-N candidate.
