BEIRUT/RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – The Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Rudolf Heikal, has departed for Pakistan on an official visit, according to international media reports.
The visit comes at a time of heightened diplomatic activity in the region, as Pakistan continues efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States, amid ongoing regional tensions. The trip is being undertaken at the invitation of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Media reports, citing a British news agency, stated that the timing of the visit is significant given Pakistan’s reported role in encouraging mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington.
The development also comes against the backdrop of escalating instability in the Middle East, with recent conflict impacts extending into Lebanon, further complicating the regional security landscape.
General Heikal’s visit is expected to include discussions on military cooperation and broader security dynamics at a time when regional diplomatic engagements are intensifying.
