LAHORE (Dunya News) - Two suspected militants, including a key commander linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed during a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in the Koh-e-Suleman mountain range.
According to a CTD Punjab spokesperson, the operation was launched on the basis of credible intelligence regarding the presence of armed militants in the tribal area of Taman Qaisrani.
Officials said intelligence reports indicated that between 12 and 15 militants were hiding in the area and planning terrorist activities in the populated regions of Koh-e-Suleman, Waha and Taunsa tehsils.
The spokesperson said CTD teams tracked the militants using advanced weapons, surveillance equipment and drone technology. After an overnight intelligence-led monitoring operation, security personnel moved in near the remote mountainous area of Jandoga.
A heavy exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of two militants. Two others were reportedly injured and fled the area along with their accomplices.
The CTD said the identification process of the slain militants is underway, while a large-scale search and sweep operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects.
