ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Official figures have revealed how much Pakistani pilgrims spent under the government Hajj scheme this year, with total expenditure reaching approximately Rs139.16 billion.
According to sources, the amount reflects combined spending on both long and short-duration Hajj programmes managed under the official arrangement.
A total of 119,210 Pakistanis performed Hajj under the government scheme this year. Out of these, 77,743 pilgrims selected the long Hajj programme of 40 to 45 days, accounting for 65.2 percent of the total quota. Each pilgrim in this category paid around Rs1.15 million, bringing total spending in this segment to approximately Rs89.40 billion.
Meanwhile, 41,467 pilgrims opted for the short Hajj programme lasting 20 to 22 days, making up 34.8 percent of the quota. Each participant paid about Rs1.2 million, resulting in a total cost of roughly Rs49.76 billion.
Under the official instalment plan, long Hajj pilgrims paid Rs500,000 initially and Rs650,000 in the second instalment. Short Hajj participants paid Rs550,000 upfront, followed by Rs650,000 in the second phase.
Additional expenses were applied depending on accommodation preferences. Pilgrims opting for a two-bed separate room paid an extra Rs200,000 per person, while those selecting a three-bed separate room paid an additional Rs67,000.
Women accounted for 50,114 pilgrims, representing 43.5 percent of the government quota, while men numbered 65,182, or 56.5 percent.
Separately, around 60,000 pilgrims performed Hajj under private arrangements, with package costs ranging between Rs1.2 million and Rs4 million depending on services and facilities selected.
