Additional security personnel to be deployed in AJK to maintain peace

Following a strike call by the Joint Awami Action Committee, the Azad Kashmir government has issued an important travel advisory, urging tourists and travelers to exercise caution

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – A decision has been taken to deploy additional civil armed forces and police personnel to maintain law and order situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ahead of Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) protest call on June 9.

According to sources, 1,000 Punjab Rangers and 2,000 Frontier Constabulary personnel will be sent to Azad Kashmir. In addition, 2,000 Islamabad Police officers and 1,000 Sindh Police officers will also be deployed in AJK.

Following a strike call by the Joint Awami Action Committee, the Azad Kashmir government has issued an important travel advisory, urging tourists and travelers to exercise caution.

The government has appealed to people to avoid entering Azad Kashmir and to refrain from non-essential travel between June 5 and June 20. Visitors planning to travel to the region for tourism or other purposes have been advised to postpone their trips.

According to the advisory, people should avoid traveling to Azad Kashmir due to the possibility of protests. Tourists and pilgrims currently in the region have been instructed to leave by the evening of June 5.

The government has urged tourists to leave the region to avoid any untoward situation. It also warned that the protest call could affect tourism activities throughout Azad Kashmir.

Officials stated that the safety of tourists and travelers is the government's top priority. As a precautionary measure, a special advisory has been issued in anticipation of possible protests and disruptions to public movement.

The Azad Kashmir government has therefore issued an advance warning to tourists and travelers across the country.
