KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local holiday on June 8 for Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.
According to an official notification issued by the Human Resource Management Department of KMC, a local holiday will be observed on June 8, corresponding to 22 Zilhaj 1447 AH.
The notification stated that the holiday has been declared in light of a resolution approved by the Karachi City Council. All offices operating under the administrative control of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the day.
However, institutions and departments providing essential and emergency services will continue to function as usual to ensure uninterrupted delivery of basic facilities to citizens.
KMC officials said the decision was approved by the competent authority and all relevant departments have been informed to ensure effective implementation of the notification.
Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine is one of Karachi’s most prominent religious and historical landmarks, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country every year during the Urs celebrations. Various religious and spiritual events are organized on the occasion, while special security and facilitation arrangements are made for visitors and pilgrims.
