Seven die as tourist vehicle plunges into ravine near Fairy Meadows

Seven people died after a tourist vehicle heading to Fairy Meadows plunged into a deep ravine near Chilas.

CHILAS (Dunya News) - At least seven people were killed after a vehicle carrying tourists to the popular tourist destination of Fairy Meadows met with a tragic accident in Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to police, the accident occurred in the Chilas area when the tourist vehicle plunged into a deep ravine. Police, rescue teams, and local residents rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and launched rescue operations.

Authorities said seven people died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Among the deceased, the driver was identified as Ziaullah, a resident of Darel in Diamer district. Two tourists were identified as Ali and Sajjad, while efforts are underway to confirm the identities and hometowns of the remaining victims.

Rescue sources said the difficult mountainous terrain and the vehicle reportedly going out of control are being considered possible causes of the accident. However, a formal investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
