LAHORE (Dunya News) - Heavy rain and hailstorm swept across several parts of Lahore, bringing much-needed relief from intense heat and significantly improving weather conditions in the provincial capital.
Dark clouds gathered over various areas, including Garhi Shahu, Mall Road, Abbott Road and adjoining localities, followed by heavy rainfall and strong winds that lowered temperatures and created pleasant weather across the city.
Residents welcomed the change in weather as the rain eased the ongoing heatwave conditions and provided relief from soaring temperatures.
According to rainfall data, the highest precipitation was recorded in Nishtar Town, where 30 millimetres of rain was measured. Chowk Nakhuda received 24 millimetres, while Gulberg recorded 7 millimetres of rainfall.
Similarly, Lakshmi Chowk received 26 millimetres of rain, Upper Mall recorded 22 millimetres, and Mughalpura registered 23 millimetres.
Rainfall of 17 millimetres was also recorded in Tajpura, Gulshan Ravi and Iqbal Town, according to weather officials.
The heavy rain and hailstorm affected traffic flow in several parts of the city, causing delays and congestion on major roads as motorists navigated waterlogged areas and reduced visibility.
Meanwhile, the adverse weather also impacted the power supply system, with more than 50 feeders of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripping during the rainfall.
As a result of feeder faults and other technical issues, electricity supply was suspended in multiple areas, causing inconvenience to residents.
The chief executive of LESCO said restoration efforts would begin immediately after the rain subsides, adding that power supply across the LESCO region currently remains in line with demand levels.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation while technical teams remain on standby to address faults and restore electricity to affected localities.
