PM Shehbaz Sharif extends Eid greetings to military chiefs, hails armed forces' sacrifices

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eidul Azha greetings to military chiefs and political leaders, praising the armed forces’ sacrifices and stressing unity, security and national progress.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday extended Eidul Azha greetings to the country’s top military leadership and senior political figures, paying tribute to the professionalism of the armed forces and acknowledging the sacrifices made in safeguarding the country’s security.

In separate telephone conversations, the prime minister conveyed Eid greetings to Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

During the calls, PM Shehbaz commended the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces and recognised their continued services and sacrifices for national security. He said the nation remained proud of its brave soldiers and their unwavering commitment to defending the country.

The premier also offered prayers for Pakistan’s security, prosperity and progress, while giving special recognition to officers and personnel who continued to perform their duties during Eid celebrations.

He paid particular tribute to members of the security forces stationed across the country, saying their dedication and sense of duty reflected an enduring commitment to protecting the homeland even during national and religious occasions.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the services chiefs thanked the premier for his Eid greetings and expressed their good wishes for peace, happiness and prosperity for both the prime minister and the nation on Eidul Azha.

The military leadership also reaffirmed its resolve that Pakistan’s armed forces remained fully prepared at all times for the defence and security of the country.

Earlier in the day, PM Shehbaz had also issued a wider Eid message to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim world, saying the values associated with Eidul Azha carried lessons that extended beyond religious observance.

He stated that the spirit of sacrifice, unity and solidarity represented principles capable of ensuring lasting cohesion and sustainable progress in nations, highlighting the importance of collective strength and national harmony.

Beyond his interactions with military officials, the prime minister also held separate conversations with key constitutional office-holders, provincial leaders and political personalities as part of Eid engagements.

He telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari and exchanged Eid greetings. Similar conversations were held with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

The premier also spoke with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan.

In addition, PM Shehbaz exchanged Eid greetings with political leaders including Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Magsi and Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.

During the conversations, participants also discussed the broader political situation in the country, emphasising the need for stronger coordination and cooperation between the federation and provinces. The prime minister reiterated that the federal government, together with provincial administrations and federating units, would continue efforts aimed at delivering maximum relief and support to the public.

He also prayed for Pakistan to be blessed with peace, stability, progress and prosperity, while calling for unity and harmony across the nation during the Eid period.
