ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from May 23-26, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi confirms on Friday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that the Interior Minister recently undertook two visits to Iran, during which important meetings were held with the Iranian leadership focusing on bilateral relations and security matters.

He added that China has consistently supported Pakistan in difficult times, stressing that Pakistan and China enjoy strong and longstanding relations across trade, industry, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

The spokesperson noted that the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China is being marked by reaffirming the “all-weather strategic partnership,” which continues to grow stronger over time.

He further said that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister will further enhance the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership. The Prime Minister will also chair a Pakistan-China business-to-business conference and attend a reception in Beijing.

Meetings are also scheduled with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, focusing on agriculture, trade, IT, science, and expanding public-level cooperation.

On regional matters, the Foreign Office stated that India is attempting to spread terrorism in the region and continues efforts to suppress voices raising concerns over human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of atrocities in occupied Kashmir and paid tribute to those killed in the May 21 incident.

He also expressed concern over reported drone incidents in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, stating that targeting nuclear installations is a serious violation of international law, and hoped such incidents would not be repeated in the future.
