Summary Pakistan and Bangladesh discussed strengthening civil service cooperation, focusing on training exchanges, governance reforms, and institutional capacity building to enhance bilateral ties.
ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday said Pakistan attached special importance to institutional cooperation and exchange of administrative experiences with friendly countries, stressing that enhanced engagement between the civil services of Pakistan and Bangladesh would further promote mutual trust and constructive collaboration.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil service officers currently visiting Pakistan.
The meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, governance systems, administrative reforms, institutional capacity building and professional cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil were also present during the meeting.
The minister briefed the visiting delegation on the government’s reform initiatives and policy measures being implemented in different sectors in Pakistan.
Attaullah Tarar described the Executive Development Programme between the civil services of Pakistan and Bangladesh as an important development in recent decades, saying both countries shared historical ties as well as a common administrative and governance heritage.
He welcomed the positive progress in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh and expressed confidence that such exchanges would further strengthen understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
The minister emphasized the need to further enhance collaboration between training and capacity-building institutions of both countries through faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives and development of training modules.
He also appreciated the successful conduct of the programme under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative organized by the Civil Services Academy.
The Bangladeshi delegation expressed keen interest in Pakistan’s administrative structure and reform initiatives undertaken in various sectors.
The meeting was termed positive and constructive with regard to bilateral relations and exchange of professional experiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Fatemi underscored the importance of strengthening professional linkages and institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
He said bilateral engagement was essential for promoting regional harmony and mutual understanding.
Meanwhile, Director CTP of the Civil Services Academy Syed Shabbir Akbar Zaidi gave a comprehensive briefing to the delegation on the academy’s objectives, modern training system, course modules, academic programmes and various capacity-building initiatives.
The delegation included Salma Siddiqa Mehtab, Muhammad Mustafa Jamal Haider, Abu Raihan Miha, Feroz Ahmed, Muhammad Munir-ul-Islam, Toufiq Imam, Raihan Akhtar, Ehtesham-ul-Haq, Muhammad Shams-ul-Haq, Muhammad Abdus Salam, Zi-ar-Rehman and Zia Ahmed Saman.
