Addressing an event in Lahore on Saturday, he said that everyone has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution.

“We are in a coalition government. Even ordinary legislation is not carried out without consultation, so how can a constitutional amendment be introduced without consultation?” he said.

He added that all stakeholders would sit together, noting that there are certain issues on which consensus is essential.

The law minister said that consensus had also been achieved in 2009, and if a national dialogue takes place again, efforts would be made to build agreement on such matters.

He added that some discussions are already ongoing and would continue in the future.

Azam Nazeer Tarar further said that whenever any amendment is proposed, consultations would first be held with allied parties in parliament.

He noted that the federation is facing certain challenges and that there are issues which should be discussed.
