ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a fully online and paperless degree attestation system to facilitate students across the country.

According to HEC Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, the newly introduced system, known as DAS, will eliminate the need for applicants to visit HEC offices or submit original documents for degree verification.

Dr Akhtar said the project has been developed using advanced blockchain technology aimed at making the verification process faster, more secure, and transparent.

He added that recommendations of the National Assembly’s standing committee were also taken into consideration while designing the system.

Under the new digital system, students will be able to submit applications online 24/7 through HEC’s e-services portal.

Applicants will be required to create an account on the portal, provide academic details, and upload their credentials, which will then be scrutinized online by HEC and the relevant universities.

The fee payment process has also been simplified by integrating online payments through OneLink, allowing students to avoid long queues at banks.

Unlike the previous manual system, which required applicants to send documents by post or appear in person at HEC offices, the new mechanism will issue a digital e-certificate after final verification.

Applicants will be notified about the approval of their requests through SMS and email, after which they will be able to download the verified certificate directly from their portal accounts.

The initiative is expected to save students both time and expenses while enhancing transparency in the degree attestation process by reducing human intervention.
