LAHORE (Web Desk) - PPP Labour Bureau President Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad called for immediate registration of all workers with NADRA and demanded salaries be paid through bank accounts to ensure transparency.
He was addressing a Labour Day seminar organised by PPP Lahore, where he strongly criticised privatisation, calling it “open plunder” and vowing continued resistance by labour organisations.
The seminar was also addressed by PPP Lahore General Secretary Dr Ayesha Shaukat, Organising Committee Convener Majeed Ghauri, PPP Lahore President Nargis Khan and Mazdoor Forum PPP Lahore President Mah Gul Abbas.
Ahmad expressed concern over the agriculture sector, alleging it was being weakened to create cheap labour, and claimed only 2.2 million workers were registered under Social Security in Punjab despite a much larger workforce.
Paying tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, he recalled reforms aimed at empowering workers and said earlier labour laws had expanded rights to informal sector workers.
