Israeli strikes killed nine in Lebanon, while Hezbollah drone attack wounded 12 Israeli soldiers, escalating border tensions.

BEIRUT (Dunya News) - Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon killed at least nine civilians, including two children, according to Lebanese officials and state media.

The strikes targeted multiple areas and left 23 people injured, while Hezbollah carried out a drone attack in northern Israel that wounded at least 12 soldiers.

Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition, as rescue operations continued amid widespread fear.

President Joseph Aoun urged Israel to adhere to international law and stop targeting civilians, medical staff, civil defence workers and journalists.

In a statement, he said ceasefire violations were ongoing in southern Lebanon, with destruction of homes and places of worship alongside rising casualties.

He added that around 17 aid workers and paramedics had been killed so far, while journalists had also come under attack.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued fresh warnings to residents of 15 towns in southern Lebanon, escalating tensions further.

The towns named in the warnings included Jibshit, Habboush, Harouf, Kfar Joz, Upper Nabatieh, Aba, Adchit al-Shqif, Arab Salim, Talat al-Khouri, Upper Houmine, Al-Majdal, Arzoun, Doueir, Al-Humairi and Maaroub.

Separately, Hezbollah’s drone strike in northern Israel targeted a military vehicle near Shomera along the Israel-Lebanon border, injuring at least 12 Israeli soldiers.
