Three young children were found murdered in Lahore’s Ichhra area, with police detaining their parents and uncle as investigations continue.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A shocking triple murder in Lahore has sent waves of fear through the city after three young children were found dead inside their home in the Ichhra neighbourhood.

Police have taken the victims’ parents and their uncle into custody as investigations continue into the gruesome incident.

According to police officials, the bodies of two girls and one boy were discovered after an emergency call was made to the helpline. Officers and rescue teams rushed to the scene, where it was confirmed that the children had been killed by having their throats slit.

Authorities stated that the victims were aged between one and nine years. Initial accounts suggest that the parents had locked the house from the outside before leaving to purchase medicines from a nearby medical store. Upon returning, they reportedly found the children dead inside the house.

The deceased have been identified as five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza and one-and-a-half-year-old Umm-e-Habiba. Their bodies were transported to a hospital for post-mortem examinations, while a heavy police presence remained deployed at the scene.

Senior Superintendent of Police Tauqeer Naeem said that forensic evidence was being collected and that investigators were examining multiple angles to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings. He added that efforts were under way to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The incident drew immediate attention from senior authorities. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Abdul Karim, took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Capital City Police Officer in Lahore. He directed the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) to ensure the swift arrest of the suspect, instructing that all available resources be utilised.

A spokesperson for Punjab Police confirmed that senior officers and forensic teams had collected evidence from the crime scene. Meanwhile, the DIG (Operations) stated that dedicated teams had been formed to pursue the case and that arrests were expected soon.

In a significant development, police detained the children’s father, identified as Ramzan, and their mother, Rida, after officials cited inconsistencies in their statements. The couple, who had reportedly been married for nine years, are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. The children’s uncle has also been taken into custody.

Police said the father initially told investigators that he had locked the house before leaving and discovered the bodies upon returning. Authorities are now scrutinising this account alongside other evidence.

The killings have triggered widespread alarm across Lahore, with residents of the area expressing grief and anger over the brutality of the crime. Locals have called for the immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible.

The incident comes just a day after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reportedly reprimanded police officials over rising crime levels in the province, intensifying scrutiny on law enforcement in the wake of the latest tragedy.
