Pakistan reiterates support for diplomatic resolution of US-Iran tensions as Islamabad prepares for second round of talks.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan has reaffirmed its support for a negotiated settlement to tensions between the United States and Iran, as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, in Islamabad.

The meeting focused on regional stability and preparations for the second round of discussions between Washington and Tehran, which Pakistan is facilitating.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Naqvi informed the Iranian envoy that arrangements for the upcoming round of talks have been completed, including comprehensive security measures for visiting foreign delegations. Senior officials, including the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, were also present during the meeting, underlining the administrative coordination behind the preparations.

During the discussions, Naqvi emphasised that Pakistan supports resolving the dispute between the United States and Iran through dialogue and diplomatic engagement. He reiterated that a durable and peaceful resolution remains essential for ensuring long-term stability across the region. The minister noted that reducing tensions through sustained diplomatic channels is the most viable path forward.

Highlighting the longstanding ties between Islamabad and Tehran, Naqvi described Pakistan-Iran relations as rooted in decades of cooperation and mutual respect. He referred to the relationship as brotherly, underscoring the importance Islamabad places on maintaining close engagement with Tehran amid evolving regional dynamics.

The Iranian ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive and positive role in efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions. He appreciated Islamabad’s commitment to facilitating dialogue and supporting diplomatic initiatives designed to reduce friction and promote stability in the wider region.

Naqvi also briefed the envoy on his recent visit to Iran, sharing insights from his engagements there and reaffirming Pakistan’s intention to remain actively involved in efforts that contribute to easing tensions.
