ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the flames of war between the United States and Iran have been extinguished, praising Pakistan’s responsible role in facilitating peace.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting in the federal capital, Shehbaz Sharif noted that media worldwide have lauded Pakistan’s efforts in paving the way for peace and added that such unprecedented harmony between civil and military leadership has not been seen in the past forty years.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has achieved a significant diplomatic victory, contributing to collective efforts among Muslim countries and supporting regional peace. He noted that US President Donald Trump has announced tariffs on countries providing military support to Iran, imposing a 50 percent duty on all goods sold to the US by such nations. The Prime Minister emphasized that the tariffs will be implemented immediately, with no exemptions.

The Prime Minister said the ceasefire has been secured for two weeks and, God willing, could become permanent. He expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership and acknowledged the tireless work of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who was honored by cabinet members during the meeting.
Shehbaz Sharif thanked the leadership of Iran and the US for accepting Pakistan’s requests and acknowledged China’s full support in peace efforts. He also expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Turkey, Indonesia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and the UAE for supporting Pakistan’s role in fostering peace.
He condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical complex and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Kingdom. He also praised Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and his team for their relentless efforts, adding that today’s Pakistan is a transformed nation recognized with respect worldwide. Shehbaz Sharif concluded that this recognition reflects the honor of the entire nation, not just an individual.
