Petroleum products prices likely to be hiked

According to industry sources, the price of petrol may increase by up to Rs4.39 per litre

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government may hike prices of petroleum products for the second part of the month on February 16.

According to industry sources, the price of petrol may increase by up to Rs4.39 per litre.

They said that high-speed diesel could become expensive by Rs5.40 per litre, while light diesel oil may increase by up to Rs6.55 per litre.

The sources stated that the price of kerosene oil is also expected to rise by Rs4 per litre.

OGRA will send the final summary to the Ministry of Petroleum tomorrow which will take effect on February 16.

The final decision regarding changes in petroleum product prices will be made by OGRA and the Ministry of Finance after consultation with the prime minister.

It may be recalled that government raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs11.30 per litre on January 31. Following the increase, the new price of high-speed diesel was fixed at Rs268.38 per litre.

In contrast, the price of petrol kept unchanged at Rs253.17 per litre, providing temporary relief to consumers amid fluctuating international oil prices and domestic economic pressures.
