ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Veteran actress Abida Baig has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for assistance.
In a viral social media clip, she can be seen crying while requesting help from the Punjab CM.
Known for her role as Chandi in the classic drama Sona Chandi, Abida Beg appeared deeply distressed in the video as she made her appeal.
She said, “I am Abida Baig, who has served the arts for 35 years, and my late husband Mirza Rasheed Akhtar worked in this industry for 40 years. Even when there were funerals at home, we continued performing in shows. But now I am in extreme distress.”
She added, “I have been treated very unfairly. The roof of my house has been taken from me. I have two children, grandchildren, and our income is not enough to live in a rented house. I appeal to CM Punjab and Information Minister Azma Bukhari to listen to me and grant me a meeting.”
Appealing directly to CM Maryam Nawaz, Abida said: “My only asset was my house, for which I request your assistance.”
She further stated, “The Punjab CM says that women are her red line. I am an artist of Pakistan who has worked very hard. For God’s sake, please support me and help me.”
