A major crash involving an oil tanker, bus and other vehicles near Kathore on Karachi’s Super Highway killed 12, including women and children.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least 12 people were killed and several others injured in a horrific accident involving an oil tanker, a passenger bus, and multiple vehicles near Kathore on the Super Highway.

Rescue officials confirmed that the deceased included three women and children, making the tragedy even more distressing. The accident reportedly occurred due to overspeeding and vehicles losing control, resulting in a chain collision between the tanker, the bus, and other cars.

As soon as the incident was reported, rescue teams and police reached the spot and launched emergency operations. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where the condition of some is said to be critical.

Authorities stated that traffic flow on the highway was severely disrupted, with long queues forming on both sides. Police cordoned off the area, began collecting evidence, and cranes were used to remove the wrecked vehicles.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and instructed police to reach the site immediately and fully cooperate with rescue agencies. The IG also ordered securing the surrounding area, restoring traffic movement, and submitting a detailed report.

Preliminary reports indicate that the oil tanker was damaged in the collision, but no major fire incident has been reported so far. Investigations are underway, and officials said legal action will be taken if negligence is proven.
