LAHORE — The Punjab Home Department has issued comprehensive security guidelines ahead of Ramadan, directing authorities to implement strict measures to maintain public safety and order.

Officials said security at mosques, religious sites and Ramadan bazaars will be given top priority. Under Ramadan regulations, eating and drinking in public places during fasting hours will remain restricted.

Additional security personnel will be deployed at mosques, madrassas and imambargahs. Authorities have also ordered tighter security during Sehri, Iftar, Taraweeh prayers and Friday congregations to ensure things run smoothly and safely.

Strict checking will be carried out at entry and exit points of cities, with biometric verification systems also being used. Law enforcement agencies will enhance patrols, search operations and checkpoint monitoring around sensitive locations.

Authorities have instructed installation of CCTV cameras, walkthrough gates and search lights before Ramadan begins. A three-layer security system, along with barriers and razor wire, will be used at key worship sites during peak prayer times.

Security personnel deployed on duty during Iftar will be provided special arrangements for meals. Deployment of volunteers and private security guards will be done in consultation with local administration.

The plan also calls for close monitoring of banned organisations and individuals listed in security watch lists. Police and intelligence agencies have been directed to work hand in hand to prevent any untoward incidents.

Senior police officers will personally oversee arrangements across the province, while district and divisional intelligence committees have been asked to hold urgent meetings to review preparedness.

Authorities will also take action against hoarding and profiteering, misuse of loudspeakers and public display of weapons. Social media monitoring will be increased to curb hate speech and provocative content.

Emergency services, including rescue teams, fire brigades, bomb disposal units and medical staff, will remain on high alert. District control rooms will be connected with the central control system to ensure quick response during emergencies.

Officials said all available resources will be used to ensure Ramadan remains peaceful and secure across Pakistan.
