KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government has suspended Professor Azhar Shah, the in-charge of the University of Sindh’s Dadu campus, after videos allegedly showing him in inappropriate circumstances surfaced on social media, prompting widespread concern and formal complaints.
In a letter to the university’s vice-chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahoo stated that the circulating videos had reportedly harmed the institution’s reputation.
He directed the immediate suspension of the professor and ordered a formal inquiry to determine the facts surrounding the matter.
The letter emphasised that the proceedings would be conducted in accordance with the law and that the professor would be given a fair opportunity to present his defense.
The minister instructed that the inquiry be completed within 15 days and that a comprehensive report, including findings and recommendations, be submitted to his office.
He also directed that the matter be placed before the university’s syndicate for further action as required under the law.

According to separate complaints filed by faculty members and student representatives, the viral material consists of multiple video clips recorded at different times.
The footage allegedly shows the campus official appearing unsteady and struggling to stand during campus activities.
Written submissions to the inquiry committee claim that the professor frequently appeared intoxicated while on duty, spoke incoherently during classes, and engaged in inappropriate conduct.
Some complaints also allege harassment of students, according to individuals familiar with the proceedings.
The controversy intensified after teachers and students reportedly boycotted classes in protest, leading to the minister’s intervention.
University officials said the professor has been removed from his administrative position pending the outcome of the investigation.
A three-member committee, headed by Dr Javed, Dean of Business and Commerce at the University of Sindh, has been constituted to conduct the inquiry.
