QUETTA (Dunya News) - The 2026 matriculation examinations began in Balochistan on Tuesday, with authorities enforcing strict measures to prevent cheating during the exams.
According to officials of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, around 145,000 candidates are appearing in the examinations this year.
The officials said that 68,462 students from Class IX and 75,817 students from Class X are taking part in the exams.
For the smooth conduct of the examinations, a total of 434 examination centres have been set up across the province, with 1,263 staff members deployed for invigilation and administrative duties.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced on Sunday that matriculation board examinations would begin across the province from Feb 10.
In a post on social media platform X, he stressed that no leniency would be shown against cheating. He added that strict implementation of anti-cheating measures would be ensured.
He further said that police, deputy commissioners, and the education department would work jointly to eliminate cheating during the examinations.
CM Bugti added that the provincial government was committed to eradicating corruption at all levels, including in the education sector, and ensuring transparency throughout Balochistan.
