DADU (Dunya News) – Three policemen embraced martyrdom and five sustained wounds in an 'exchange' of fire with suspected robbers in Tehsil Mehar of interior Sindh, Dunya News reported here on Monday.
According to eyewitnesses, robbers riding five motorcycles were plundering cash and valuables from the pilgrims of Dargha Shah Godrio after barricading a road.
Police were informed who scrambled to the crime scene. On seeing police approaching them, the robbers opened indiscriminate fire. As a result of their firing, three policemen were martyred on the spot and five injured.
The robbers escaped with looted valuables including cash and mobile phones. On information, a police contingent reached the crime scene and started investigation after shifting the dead and injured to hospital.
Police were recording statements and collecting forensic evidence to reach out to the fleeing outlaws.
