KARACHI (Dunya News) - Rangers and SIU police conducted a joint operation near a mosque garden area in Karachi against extortionists, arresting three suspects who were injured during an exchange of fire.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspects opened fire on law enforcement personnel during the operation. In retaliatory action, all three suspects were wounded and subsequently taken into custody.
The arrested individuals were identified as Syed Basit Hussain alias Shah Rukh, Abdul Samad, and Muhammad Taha alias Maya.
Authorities stated that the suspects are linked to extortion networks led by Wasiullah Lakho, Jameel Chhanga, and Abdul Samad Kathiawari.
The spokesperson said the suspects provided information about builders, medical stores, restaurants, cosmetics shops, and other businesses to extortion ring leaders, who then used threats to collect protection money.
