ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja on Friday said that the family of former prime minister Imran Khan would be provided with a copy of his medical report, following growing concern over his health and treatment in custody.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Raja said that the assurance came after a day-long sit-in by PTI leaders and workers aimed at securing access for Imran Khan’s personal doctors.
The protest was joined by several senior party figures, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
The protest followed confirmation by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar a day earlier that Imran Khan had undergone a medical procedure for an eye ailment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. According to the minister, the former premier was taken to the hospital on the night of January 24 for a brief 20-minute procedure.
Raja, however, questioned the official narrative, saying reports circulating about Imran Khan’s health were “unsatisfactory”.
He alleged that the former prime minister had been taken to hospital without the knowledge of his family and accused authorities of withholding information for several days.
“As you know, we have been outside the Supreme Court all day,” Raja told reporters, adding that PTI lawmakers had also staged a sit-in outside Adiala Jail the previous night, which continued until the early hours of Friday.

Raja said he remained in contact throughout the day with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, court officials and the Attorney General for Pakistan.
Despite these efforts, he said the outcome fell short of expectations. According to Raja, it was decided that Imran Khan’s complete medical record — including the diagnosis made in jail and details of the procedure performed at PIMS — would be handed to him in a sealed envelope, with a copy provided to his family, including his sisters.
“This report will clarify what doctors have diagnosed and what treatment was carried out,” Raja said, adding that Imran Khan’s family would decide whether the medical care being provided was satisfactory and determine the future course of treatment.
He stressed, however, that the core issue remained Imran Khan’s incarceration, which he described as unlawful.

Raja said that PTI would continue its protests to secure visitation rights and called for the former prime minister’s release.
He added that the party’s political committee would meet later in the day to decide its next steps, following consultations with opposition leaders in both the Senate and the National Assembly.
Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, speaking alongside PTI leaders, said denying fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution amounted to oppression.
He termed Imran Khan’s treatment “illegal, unconstitutional and inhumane”.
Earlier in the day, PTI workers and lawmakers had set up camp outside the Supreme Court, with Chief Minister Sohail Afridi saying the entire nation was concerned about Imran Khan’s health.
Afridi said that the party had been left with no option but to protest, claiming that long-pending cases involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were not being listed by the courts.
PTI leaders later met the Supreme Court registrar and the Attorney General, formally requesting access to Imran Khan’s medical report.
Party leader Sardar Latif Khosa also disputed the government’s claim regarding the duration of the eye procedure, alleging it typically takes several hours rather than 20 minutes.
