ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Turkish Chief of Defence Forces General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu met with Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad, according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding historical, friendly, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, rooted in shared history, values, and mutual respect.
The Turkish defence chief appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region. He also expressed Türkiye’s commitment to sustainable peace and stability in the region, including Afghanistan, and emphasised collective security through conflict prevention, mutual consultation, and joint efforts.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif thanked the Turkish leadership and people for their consistent support and principled stance, particularly during difficult times. He reiterated Pakistan’s position on promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue, patience, and cooperation with regional partners.
The meeting also included discussions on matters of mutual interest, particularly the enhancement of defence and security cooperation. It concluded with a shared resolve to further strengthen defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, reflecting strategic alignment and a common vision for lasting peace and stability in the region.
