KP CM Afridi vows overnight sit-in near Adiala Jail over denied meeting with Imran Khan

Updated on:

KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI leaders staged an overnight sit-in near Adiala jail, demanding access to Imran Khan amid health concerns and court-approved meeting restrictions.

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced on Thursday that he and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders would camp overnight near Adiala jail after being denied a meeting with jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Afridi reached Factory Naka, a police picket outside the prison, alongside PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja, saying party lawmakers and supporters had gathered to press for access to Khan, his family, and personal physician.

He said repeated restrictions on meetings had turned the area into a regular site for protests, warning that responsibility for any escalation would lie with the government if access continued to be blocked.

CM Afridi calls concealment of Imran Khan's illness 'medical terrorism'

The protest follows PTI’s concerns about Khan’s health. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that Khan recently underwent a medical procedure for an eye ailment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Raja said a court-approved list of visitors had been submitted to prison authorities and called the meeting a “basic human right.” Police deployed heavy security around the prison and key routes across Rawalpindi and nearby motorways.
