NAB recovers Rs4.05 billion in the Kohistan mega corruption scandal, marking a historic recovery and conviction while exposing a complex network of shell companies and corruption.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – In an anti-corruption operation, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recovered Rs4.05 billion.

The funds were seized in connection with the notorious Kohistan Scandal, which exposed a major conspiracy to plunder the national treasury. Investigations revealed that the main accused, Qaiser Iqbal, used a frontman, dumper driver Mumtaz Khan, to operate bank accounts under a shell company named “Mumtaz Construction Company.”

Through these accounts, millions of rupees were siphoned from public funds for personal gain.

Faced with irrefutable evidence, the frontman opted for a plea bargain, returning the recovered cash, along with properties and vehicles, to the national treasury.

The accountability court approved the arrangement, resulting in both record recovery and the first conviction in the high-profile scandal.

Authorities said the operation not only returned substantial public funds but also dismantled the complex network of anonymous accounts and shell companies used to conceal corruption. NAB emphasized that the message is clear: accountability can reach behind every veil, and the keys to the national treasury can ultimately lead to justice.
