KARACHI (Dunya News): Security provided to federal ministers, members of the assembly, and leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) (MQM-P) has been withdrawn, Dunya News reported on Monday.
According to sources, security cover has been withdrawn from Federal Ministers Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal, senior leaders Farooq Sattar, Anis Kaimkhani. Security has also been withdrawn from Ali Khurshidi, the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly and other parlimentarians.
The Ministry of Interior has directed security personnel to return immediately. Meanwhile, MQM-P leaders have called an emergency press conference today (Tuesday) at 4:00pm over the issue. MQM-P ministers and members of the assembly had criticized the government over the Gul Plaza tragedy.
The MQM ministers, and leaders have expressed concern over the withdrawal of their security. An MQM leader said they were not informed of the reason for recalling the security and added that it was possible the criticism over the Gul Plaza tragedy became the reason. The MQM leader said that they would continue to raise questions regarding the Gul Plaza incident.
