ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs has proposed sending a 10-member parliamentary delegation to Madinah at government expense to pay salutations at the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) mosque.
It was stated in the committee that the parliamentary delegation would travel every year to Madinah Munawwarah and Makkah Mukarramah. The family members of the parliamentarians would also be allowed to accompany them on government expense. The delegation, on behalf of the public, will also perform Umrah in Makkah.
Committee Chairperson Shagufta Jamani said that the expenses of the parliamentary delegation would be borne by the National Assembly. She said that the Speaker would nominate the members of the delegation. Ijaz-ul-Haq proposed increasing the number of delegation members from seven to 10.
Samina Gharaki said that if the number of delegates is kept low, it could create misunderstandings among the remaining members.
