“People should first verify whether the video they share is authentic before tarnishing someone’s reputation,” she said. Alina emphasised that such misinformation can deeply affect victims, especially women.

Demand for action

Alina Amir praised the Punjab Cyber Crime Department (CCD) for its ongoing work and specifically requested Sohail Zafar Chatha to take strict measures against those creating AI-based videos of women. She pointed out that creating fake videos of women is considered harassment, noting that perpetrators are targeting not only public figures like actors, TikTokers, and influencers, but also private women, often sending such videos to their families and ruining lives.
