KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government has hired the services of a private audit company to investigate the Gul Plaza incident, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho informed that the private audit firm will review the causes of the fire along with other related aspects. Further action will be taken in light of the report. Statements of all associated individuals, including shopkeepers, will be recorded. He said that a police team is also investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has begun fire safety inspections in the residential and commercial buildings across Karachi. Fire safety arrangements in 35 residential and commercial buildings in the city have been reviewed. According to the DG SBCA, notices are being issued to the concerned buildings over deficiencies in fire safety.
Notices are also being issued to 266 buildings included in the KMC survey as well as other important buildings. Buildings will be sealed if firefighting equipment and safety measures are not put in place within the stipulated time.
