Heavy fog continued to blanket central Punjab, forcing authorities to close multiple motorway sections to traffic to ensure public safety

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Dense fog persisted across central Punjab on Monday night, prompting the Motorway Police to close several sections of major highways for traffic as visibility dropped to unsafe levels.

According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the M-2 motorway from Lahore to Kot Momin was closed due to poor visibility.

The M-3 from Faizpur to Rajana and the M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Khanewal were also shut for traffic.

The Lahore–Sialkot motorway (M-11) was similarly closed, while heavy fog was reported on the national highway in areas including Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, and Sahiwal.

Officials said visibility was also badly affected in Chichawatni, Iqbal Nagar, Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, and Bahawalpur.

The Motorway Police said the closures were aimed at protecting lives and property, and advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.
