An anti-corruption court in Lahore granted Chaudhry Parvez Elahi a one-day exemption from court due to ill health. The next hearing is scheduled for February 18

LAHORE (Dunya News) – An anti-corruption court in Lahore has granted a one-day exemption from appearance to former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the alleged illegal recruitment case.

During the hearing, the duty judge heard the arguments presented by Elahi’s lawyer, who requested the exemption on the grounds of the former CM’s ill health.

The lawyer informed the court that Elahi’s doctors had advised him to rest, and thus, he sought permission for a one-day exemption from appearing in court.

After hearing the lawyer’s arguments, the court approved the request. During the hearing, Elahi’s former Principal Secretary, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, appeared before the court on his behalf.

The court also heard the application for the acquittal of co-accused, Mukhtar Ranjha, and has scheduled further arguments for this case.

The next hearing has been adjourned until February 18. The Anti-Corruption authorities have already submitted the challan against Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and other accused in the court.
