KARAK (Dunya News) – At least five cops were martyred after a police mobile van was targeted in a gun attack in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
Karak District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Khan confirmed the toll, saying the police van was on routine patrol when assailants opened fire on the officials.
He said the incident took place in limits of Gurguri police station.
Security officials have cordoned off the area to collect the evidence while a search operation has also been launched to arrest the perpetrators.

Earlier thisi month, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police revealed that 502 individuals including civilians and security personnel were martyred in terrorism incidents during 2025.
According to the report, a total of 1,588 terrorist incidents occurred, resulting in the deaths of 223 civilians and 570 injuries. Additionally, 137 police officers were martyred and 236 others wounded, while 18 law enforcement personnel from various agencies also lost their lives.
The report highlighted the toll on the Federal Constabulary, with 124 personnel martyred and 244 injured. The region's security forces have also made significant strides in combating terrorism, with 348 terrorists neutralized during various operations.
The report indicated that the highest number of terrorism-related incidents occurred in the Bannu region, which registered 394 such events. Bannu saw the highest casualties, with 41 police officers martyred and 89 injured. The region also reported 54 civilian deaths and 125 injuries.
Other regions such as Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan also saw a significant number of incidents, with North Waziristan alone registering 181 cases, resulting in 38 civilian deaths and 182 injuries.
In South Waziristan, 39 civilians were killed and 86 were wounded across 103 registered cases.
