ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that cities and towns cannot have better design and infrastructure unless encroachments are eliminated, adding that removing encroachments is essential to resolving urban problems.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Iqbal Flyover and Signal-Free Expressway Corridor at T-Chowk in Islamabad, the prime minister said that such projects are important for the convenience of the common man, and that improved travel facilities are a positive development.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that without eliminating encroachments, the design and infrastructure of cities and towns cannot improve, and stressed that ending encroachments is necessary to solve long-standing issues.
The prime minister also paid tribute to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for completing the project in record time.
On the occasion, the interior minister said that within two years, people would see a new Islamabad. He added that transparency is being ensured in development projects and that work is underway on Vision 2027 for Islamabad’s development.
He further stated that the Iqbal Chowk Flyover project in Islamabad was completed in a record 77 days, and that 3,000 new plants and trees have been planted around the project.
