ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Motorways have been closed at several locations after dense fog blanketed various cities, reducing visibility to a very poor level for motorists, Dunya News reported here on Saturday night.

Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Rashkai, M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana was closed, Motorway M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, M5 from Multan to Zahir Pir, while Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M11 was shut due to fog.

Motorway police have warned citizens that lane violations in fog can lead to serious accidents, so drivers should strictly adhere to lane discipline.

Commuters have been advised to prefer traveling during daylight hours as safe travel times in fog are from 10 am to 6 pm.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police has issued instructions to drivers to use fog lights, avoid speeding, and maintain a reasonable distance from the vehicle in front.

Police have appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and said that helpline 130 can be contacted for guidance or assistance.
