ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senator Faisal Vawda on Thursday claimed that the former ISI chief Faiz Hameed will become approver against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Speaking on the programme “Dunya Meher Bokhari Kay Sath,” Senator Faisal Vawda said that there is every possibility that trial against the PTI founder may be held in military courts.
Faisal Vawda further stated that Faiz Hameed will provide testimony and evidence against those involved in May 9 riots, and the case is now moving toward the PTI founder. If evidence surfaces, a trial against the PTI founder could be held in military courts.
Talking about the punishment given to Faiz Hameed, Senator Vawda said that he [Faisal Vawda] had been expelled from the party a year before May 9, and he had been warning them not to move in a direction from where there would be no return. It is very clear, he said, that treason against the country, the state, its institutions, democracy, the flag of Pakistan, and its martyrs carries a penalty of 14 years imprisonment or the death penalty.
He said that moving within this same parameter, Faiz Hameed is now going to testify -- with evidence -- against Imran Khan, regarding the orders he received from him as prime minister. And within the scope of May 9, Imran Khan appears to be falling into this trap -- and is almost already there.
Faisal Vawda added that when that evidence comes forward, PTI leaders who have stepped aside despite being involved at the time -- and those who are currently in jail -- will also be brought in. Those who sat on the seat of justice and used their pen for anti-state actions will also be brought to the dock.
He said the tightening of the noose will not stop here; this is just the beginning. When asked whether Faiz Hameed was involved in the May 9 cases, Vawda said that the very first “test trial,” which is called the “mini sit-in,” involved Faiz Hameed as the corps commander. Information regarding internal installations was facilitated by Faiz Hameed, and when Imran Khan stepped down and the sit-in began, journalist Arshad Sharif was murdered -- during that time, General Bajwa was Army Chief and Faiz Hameed was present in uniform.
Regarding Faiz Hameed’s sentencing, Vawda said there is a punishment for those in uniform and a punishment for those without a uniform. This is very clear. He said credit goes to the CDF Field Marshal, who not only defeated an enemy ten times larger but also set an example within the institution -- and now the noose appears to be tightening toward the very place he had been warning about.
He said the 14-year sentence will not be reduced. But in the ongoing trial, Faiz Hameed will present testimony along with evidence.
He said, “Only God can pull someone out of this tightening trap; legally, worldly, and humanly, I see no path of return. I am clear that there is no room for tricks or analyses now -- this is written on the wall.”
Faisal Vawda said that regarding Faiz Hameed’s associations, from 2017 onward the allegations and drama -- from corruption to harming the state, harming the army, the judiciary, the media, democracy, politics, and everyone -- form a very broad matter. And potentially, after the evidence and testimony, he [Faiz Hameed] may end up in the number two position. But the first and foremost target after that will be PTI and Imran Khan.
