LAHORE (Dunya News) - An FIR has been filed in Lahore after two apples and a hand wash were stolen from a Session Judge’s chamber.
The incident reportedly took place on December 5 in the chambers of Additional Sessions Judge Noor Muhammad Basmal.
According to the FIR filed at Islampura Police Station, the stolen items were valued at PKR 1,000. The complaint was lodged by the judge’s reader under the instructions of the presiding judge. The case has been registered under Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which stipulates that if theft is proven, the offender could face up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both.
The unusual FIR has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with users mocking the incident and questioning the priorities of the judicial system. Some joked that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) might even be formed to recover the apples and hand wash, while others compared the swift action to delays in high-profile cases involving large-scale losses to the public.
Many have highlighted the irony of the situation, given the disparity in response to minor versus major thefts in the country.
Overall the case continues to attract attention online, reflecting the public’s mix of curiosity, humor, and criticism about the handling of small-scale incidents within the justice system.
