Residents expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing that open manholes have become a serious danger to children across the city. They criticized the negligence of authorities, noting that such hazards continue to put innocent lives at risk.

This latest happening comes just days after a heartbreaking tragedy in Gulshan-e-Iqbal near NIPA Chowrangi, where a three-year-old boy named Ibrahim fell into an open sewer and lost his life. His body was discovered nearly 14 hours later, about one kilometer from the site of the fall.

In the aftermath of the incident, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited Ibrahim’s family, accepted responsibility on behalf of the administration, and apologized for the tragedy. Murtaza Wahab also stated that there is no shortage of manhole covers but actually they are stolen.
