ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs and Senator Rana Sanaullah said on Friday that democracy always progresses through dialogue, while deadlock weakens it.
Addressing the Senate session, Sanaullah said the PM had twice invited the opposition to hold talks on the floor of the House. “He even offered that if the opposition prefers to talk in the Speaker’s chamber, he would personally go there. The PM has already invited the opposition for negotiations to achieve a Charter of Democratic Stability,” he added.
Speaking about jail meetings, he said such meetings happen strictly according to law and justice. “No prisoner is allowed to create law and order issues from inside the jail. The PTI founder gave instructions to his sister during a jail meeting regarding disrupting law and order and interfering in party matters,” he claimed.
He stated that it is on record that the PTI founder has said he is not willing to talk to the government, while those he does want to talk to are not willing to engage with him.
According to Rana Sanaullah, the PTI founder did not discuss any family matters with his sister during the meeting; instead, he gave instructions related to financial transactions and decisions about joining or removing individuals from the party.
He added that it is the government’s firm position that all meetings must take place strictly under the law, and any meeting that could endanger public order cannot be allowed. “The door to negotiations is still open. If a committee is to be formed on this matter, the concerned party must first speak with its own leadership,” he said.
