Pakistan edge Sri Lanka in thrilling semi-final to reach Rising Stars Asia Cup Final

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in a close Rising Stars Asia Cup semi-final in Doha to set up a final clash with Bangladesh on 23rd November.

DOHA (Dunya News) – Pakistan have advanced to the final of the Rising Stars Asia Cup after securing a hard-fought victory against Sri Lanka in the second semi-final held in Doha.

Friday’s match showcased Pakistan Shaheens’ composed batting and disciplined bowling as they set a competitive total before successfully defending it in a tense finale. The final will be played on 23rd November, where Pakistan will face Bangladesh.

Batting first, Pakistan Shaheens posted 153 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted overs, setting Sri Lanka A a target of 154. Ghazi Ghori stood firm till the end, finishing unbeaten on 39. Muaz Sadaqat added 23 valuable runs, while Saad Masood and Ahmed Danial both contributed 22 apiece, providing crucial stability in the middle order. Muhammad Naeem chipped in with 16, and Muhammad Faik and Shahid Aziz added seven runs each to round off the total.

For Sri Lanka A, Pramod Madushan proved to be the standout bowler, claiming four wickets with disciplined line and length. Treveen Mathew also impressed, successfully taking three wickets and exerting pressure on Pakistan’s lineup during key overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka battled hard but fell just short of the target, scoring 148 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan’s bowling attack maintained control in the closing stages, restricting the flow of runs and holding their nerve under pressure. Their effective field placements and sharp coordination on the field further strengthened their position throughout the match.

Team officials praised the players for executing the game plan with precision. The captain and coach highlighted the team’s calculated strategy, balanced partnerships, and focus on preserving wickets while maintaining scoreboard momentum. Strong communication among fielders also played a crucial role in securing the win.

Pakistan will now take on Bangladesh in the final on 23 November in what promises to be a captivating contest for the Rising Stars Asia Cup crown.
